There are few artisans who can produce convincingly real birds out of wood,
and fewer still who can capture without overbearing detraction of detail
the carved essence of bird life itself. From his small studio
in upstate New York, one such artist not only creates carved birds of incomparable
elegance and grace, but also imbues them with a presence that surpasses virtual
reality. "When the eyes go in, says Seaman, the bird should look as if it
will walk away." | | |
Added to the repertoire of carved wooden birds are two new creations from Seaman.
His new line of Steel Birds and Animated Human steel sculptures are captivating
collectors world wide. "I have no limitations," comments Seaman. If
a collector wants a 30 bird or a steel sculpture of a dozen people linked
together I am up to the challenge." While many of Jays works
are now "captives" in private collections, several of his pieces are
currently available exclusively from The McTara Gallery. |
